The Mystery Ranch Pintler pack is a pack designed for western hunting. This backpack has some key features that will help you hunt better. Let’s take a look at the pack and what it has to offer.

The features

This pack has a few features to help you with your western hunts.

This pack is made out of 500d lp corredora. 500d lp corredora is one of the strongest backpack materials on the planet.

This pack also has YKK coated zippers. The coating on the zippers helps the zipper stay waterproof, so they don’t get rusted over time. Rust on zippers will cause them to break down over time leading to failure.

The frame on this pack is the Mystery Ranch guide light mt frame. The guide light mt frame is a super-strong frame that is made to haul heavy weights for long periods of time. This frame has a panel on it to secure any loads you’re carrying. The panel is also made out of 500d corredora.

This pack has 4 internal pockets for extra organization and storage. The pack has 2 mesh pockets on either side, and 2 deep pockets on either side. The mesh pockets, while not big, can come in handy when carrying small items. The two long pockets can hold long items like spotting scopes.

This pack has 2 water bottle pockets on either side which can also hold the buttstock of a rifle or a tripod.

On the back of this pack, there is daisy chain lashing for lashing on more equipment. You can lash things like a sleeping bag or you could lash your bow with the buckles.

The overall size of this pack is 24.5x12x10 and 2355 cubic inches according to Mystery Ranch.

The material of the pack

The material, as mentioned before, is 500d lp corredora. 500d Corredora is a super-strong lightweight material that is super hard to tear. This is a flexible material that will mold to the items in your pack so you can fit more stuff.

The buckles of this pack are very durable and will not break easily. The buckles are very cold resistant. most buckles will stiffen and not open easily. or even break if they get too cold. The lashing in the buckles is held tight with a locking system so under a lot of tension.

The stitching of this pack is exilant. The stitching is also a very durable material that will not tear. Sometimes the stitching on packs will tear easily and the pack will fail. Some packs have stitching that can catch on to things and tear the whole bag apart, but luckily, this pack is not one of those.

Hip belt and shoulder straps

The hip belt and shoulder straps of this pack are very comfortable. Some backpacks don’t have enough padding, and your shoulder will hurt. On the other hand, with too much padding, you will sweat and be uncomfortable. Sweating is kind of enviable, but you sweat less with less padding.

The hip belt is also enough padding to be comfortable, but not too much padding. Again the hip belt like the shoulder straps have a ton of adjustability to fit all types of people. The hip belt can also be adjusted up and down.

The chest strap is just any other chest strap. The chest strap is good at its job, but I don’t think chest straps can get that bad. If they can, I have not had one.

All of these components are attached to the pack very well. This pack comes in 4 sizes, small, medium, large, and extra-large.

The internal pockets and lid

This pack has 4 pockets. When you open the pack there are 2 pockets on either side and the lid on the top. There is one long pocket for things like spotting scopes or other long items. The other pocket is a small zippered mesh pocket that can hold smaller items, like a small first aid kit. The lid on this bag is shaped like a triangle and can expand and hold a lot of items.

The longer pockets. The long pockets in this pack are a thin material that can hold long items or be used to organize things. I use this pocket to hold my spotting scope or my kill kit. I would be afraid to put something pointy in the pocket because the pocket is pretty thin and it could tear the pocket.

The mesh pocket. The mesh pocket is a smaller pocket that has a zipper on the top. This pocket can hold things like tags, your phone, or other small items. There is also a compartment behind the mesh pocket to store more items. If your pack gets soaked in a rainstorm, this mesh pocket will be the first thing to dry out as it is mesh.

The lid. The lid of this pack has a mesh bottom and a 500d lp corredora top. This pocket can hold a lot of things with the downside that it is a triangle shape. With the triangular shape, you can not fit some weirdly shaped items.

Cons

I did find a few cons to this backpack worth mentioning.

Accessing the meat shelf can be tough. The steps are easy, but the problem is you have to undo your load lifters. When you hike you make small adjustments to your pack so it fits better; after you get everything set, you have to undo it to access your meat shelf and now you have to start all over.

Those are the main cons to the pack. So there are not many cons, but they are things to consider before buying this pack.

This pack is a great pack for the price. This pack has organization and plenty of space for only being 2400 cubic inches. This pack may be small, but it can do a lot. If you pack it right, you can get 5 days out of it. Or you can go on overnight hunting excursions. If you’re looking for an overnight pack look at the Pintler.
